Model Project for the Promotion of Saturday Learning (Japan)

Partnering with Iwaki City, Fukushima, we cooperate on the Model Project for the Promotion of Saturday Learning, which follows the Saturday Educational Activities Promotion Project initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. We agree with the goal of providing children with more enriching and meaningful Saturdays by promoting Saturday educational activities through public-private partnership; since August of 2016, we have offered Saturday lessons for local elementary school children on the themes of manufacturing and science. We held these events twice during fiscal year 2017, offering hands-on manufacturing classes for local 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. These provided the students with a way to experience firsthand the challenges and fun of manufacturing, and the joy of seeing the finished result.

Training of Local Engineers (Japan)

We are stepping up our efforts to hire local graduating high school students as technician staff members. Of the 64 individuals who began work at the Alpine Group in April 2017, seventeen were graduates from high schools in Iwaki City; Alpine also offers internal training and other opportunities, taking into account the students’ desires and aptitudes, to help them grow as engineers and play active roles. These efforts exist against a backdrop of working to help the Hamadori region of Fukushima Prefecture to more quickly recover from the Great East Japan Earthquake, as Alpine hopes to contribute through the development of local technicians.
