Recognition by Local Government

In the Fukushima Protocol Global Warming Prevention Project, organized by Fukushima Prefecture, Alpine Manufacturing won the Grand Prize in the manufacturing category for the second year in a row.
The company was praised for efforts such as periodically washing solar panels to maintain power generation levels, introduction of LED lighting and use of sensors to detect the presence of people to reduce lighting unoccupied rooms, separation of waste materials at eco-stations, and more.

Growing Green Curtains

At the Alpine Group, we grow “green curtains” of bitter gourd, morning glories, and other plants, as a way to reduce energy use and contribute to fighting global warming. We have won a number of local awards from Iwaki City’s green curtain contests.

Reforestation

Alpine is engaged in ongoing tree planting activities all over the world. By participating in the visible environmental conservation activity of tree planting in a number of areas, environmental awareness has increased among individual employees at all facilities, and they are becoming more active in daily environmental activities as well.

Environmental problems are becoming increasingly dire in China, and the government has set forth the Forestry Law to promote forest conservation. In the midst of such circumstances, each facility is engaged in ongoing tree planting activities and donations of cherry trees. In April 2017, a total of 40 Alpine employees and family members participated in insect repellent application activities at Hanshiqiao Wetland Nature Reserve in Shunyi District, Beijing, in order to help protect the trees from insects.

Community Cleanup

Alpine participates in environmental beautification activities in the regions around the world where our offices are located.

In April 2017, employees at the Iwaki Headquarters and their families (45 people in all) participated in a clean-up project along the region's Shin River. On the day of the project, the participants gathered enough trash to fill a small truck.

At our Dalian Office, we are engaged in ongoing clean-up activities near our office. In 2017, about 200 people picked up trash in a nearby park. In Taicang, in May 2017, 16 employees participated in a clean-up program.

Biodiversity Initiatives

At Alpine, we actively engage in efforts to preserve biodiversity.

At Alpine, starting in 2018, we have been working with the Taira Plant of Alps Electric Co., Ltd. on conservation efforts to protect the endangered dogtooth violet. We have collaborated with specialists and local preservation groups to investigate the growth of the flowers’ colonies, cut away grass that prevents dogtooth violets’ growth, and gather seeds and plant them elsewhere.

Priority Parking for Eco-Cars

Reducing CO2 Emissions while Commuting

Since many of Alpine's employees commute to work by car, we are conducting a campaign to reduce CO2 emissions from their cars while commuting. The agenda of this company-wide campaign includes raising their eco-awareness by conducting eco-drive classes, distributing eco-drive stickers, designating a preferential parking area for eco-friendly vehicles and expanding the bicycle parking.
