Tokyo Auto Salon 2011 (Japan)
Japan’s major custom car show, Tokyo Auto Salon 2011 with NAPAC, was held in Makuhari Messe from January 14 to 16, 2011. Nearly 240,000 visitors witnessed and were part of exciting atmosphere throughout the site during the three-day event.
TThe Alpine Booth was dominated by the super-large display car navigation system, BIG X, with a display 1.43 times as large as previous models. On top of winning the Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun’s Product Prize, it was also awarded “the Auto Sound Grand Prix” by the Car Audio magazine Auto Sound. Alpine also showed off a prototype of the PXA-H800, a sound processor scheduled to appear on the market this fiscal year. On the stage, visitors were able to experience Alpine Premium Sound in the demo-car, a HONDA CR-Z equipped with a PXA-H800.
Three other demo cars, a Toyota Prius, a Toyota Vellfire, and a Honda STEPWGN were also exhibited. All three were equipped with the BIG X. Among these, visitors were particularly interested in the Vellfire, prepared jointly with the North-Kyushu Dealer NEWS, and it was the winner of an Excellence Award in the Minivan Wagon Division of the concurrent Tokyo International Custom Car Contest 2011.
