International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) (U.S.A)
Alpine exhibited at the International CES (Consumer Electronics Show), held for four days from January 7 to 10, 2014 in Las Vegas in the U.S. This year, which marked the 46th time for the annual event, more than 3,200 companies exhibited and over 150,000 visitors attended, making it the largest International CES ever held.
Alpine’s booth showed off Alpine’s unique systems matching to different lifestyles with “ALPINE RESTYLE” as its theme.
For truck owners, many of whom are using factory navigation systems, the booth introduced the large-screen 8-inch X008U AVN system with a special installation kit, which lets these users experience the beauty of custom installations for their particular trucks. Also exhibited was the SWT-10S2, a 10-inch thin sub-woofer developed for truck or SUV users, installed in a Chevrolet Silverado demo vehicle.
For SUV users, there was the X009 AVN system equipped with a 9-inch monitor—an industry first in the United States—as well as the PKG-RSE3DVD rear-seat entertainment system designed for families, and the compact SWE-S8 sub-woofer, all installed in a GMC Yukon demo car, providing the experience of a total system.
The X009 in particular, attracted extremely great interest as it was compatible with iDatalink®, which permits the driver to operate the automobile functions—setting the air-conditioner and rear-view camera, and checking various car data—all visible for the user on the large screen. It is also compatible with TuneIt 2.0, the newest edition of TuneIt, a sound tuning application which has been highly regarded since it was announced in 2013. A large 32-inch vertical display that simulates a smartphone is installed in the venue, and visitors could experience operating it just like a smartphone by actually scrolling through the screen.
